San Diego Marine Corp Base Installs Solar Power On Major Facilities

San Diego?s largest military training facility has enlisted one of the county?s fastest growing privately-held solar energy companies, Sullivan Solar Power, to install a 345,9000kW solar power system on two of the base?s shared dining facilities. The construction on this installation began shortly after Sullivan Solar Power completed construction on the 207,000 Watt photovoltaic system atop 4 of the base?s housing facility buildings, the Bachelor Enlisted Quarters.
The Military?s clean energy efforts are exhibited in the installations of these solar power systems, with Camp Pendleton at the forefront of these undertakings. The installed renewable energy system on the base?s Bachelor Enlisted Quarters Package 8 is projected to reduce approximately 392,160 pounds of polluting carbon emissions each year and will save Camp Pendleton tens of thousands of dollars? worth of electricity costs with in the first year of operation.

The military base?s greenest living quarters are powered with 1,024 American-made Sharp solar panels. The American-made products used for the project support our local and national economy. At annual peak production, the panels will produce enough energy to power over 23,000 homes for an entire day.
Both this installation, and the photovoltaic system that is in production on the Camp Pendleton dining facility, are positively impacting the local community and its residents. Three new local prevailing-wage jobs were created within Sullivan Solar Power for these projects.

Using solar power for household electricity production, what you should know, before going solar

My parents' home in northern Japan. That's a 3KW photovoltaic (solar power) system on the roof. The wind turbine also provides a modest amount of power.
They've always had solar water heat too, but I don't see it on the roof anymore. I wonder if my dad removed it when he had the solar panels installed. I'll need to ask him.
