Bell-Carter Foods Continues its Focus on Sustainability
Mar 19th
Corning, CA (PRWEB) March 05, 2012
The largest table olive producer in the U.S., Bell-Carter Foods, parent company of number one selling olive brand Lindsay Olives, recently announced several new sustainability projects. Focused on reducing its carbon footprint, these three new projects will help Bell-Carter Foods significantly decrease its energy consumption at its company headquarters and production plant.
?Bell-Carter believes that sustainability plays a significant role in the well-being of our community and our customers,? said Ron Kerr, director of engineering for Bell-Carter Foods. ?It?s important to us to do what?s right for our environment, and these projects allow us to produce our olives in a way that improves the community where we live and work.?
Bell-Carter Foods most recently unveiled a new aeration system at its waste water treatment facility in Corning, Calif., which earned accolades from the community and a $ 114,475 rebate check from PG&E. As a result of this energy-efficient system, Bell-Carter Foods is estimated to reduce electrical consumption by 2,743,404 KWH, and reduce the cost of treating the waste water by $ 329,208 annually. Overall it will reduce the company?s carbon footprint by 788 tons, and the energy saved is the equivalent of what is needed to power 257 homes.
The olive company will soon complete work on an evaporative cooler system that is intended to reclaim water after it is used in the cooking process. The water will then be reused to fulfill other tasks requiring water at the production plant. Up to 50 million gallons of water per year will be saved, which is equivalent to the water use of more than 800 Americans.
In addition, Bell-Carter Foods is working on using solar energy to power its receiving building, which will be an important effort in reducing energy consumption and improving energy efficiency on location at the Bell-Carter Foods plant.
Bell-Carter Foods, which is currently celebrating its 100th year in business, believes its continued dedication to sustainability and environmental stewardship improves the community in which its employees and customers live and work. For more information on Bell-Carter Foods, visit BellCarter.com.

Element Power Solar Exceeds Projected Power Delivery In 2011
Mar 2nd
Portland, OR (PRWEB) February 22, 2012
During 2011, the solar plants developed and managed by Element Power Solar(EPS) delivered 84GWh to the grid, worth about $ 54M revenue, roughly 10% more than expected by plant shareholders, advisors and lenders.
Since its first solar plant went in operation in Europe in 2007, EPS has always exceeded expected power delivery, a confirmation of the solid project development, technology selection, capabilities of the company?s team.
?Exceeding performance is an added advantage for EPS solar plant?s shareholders? ? says Paolo Pietrogrande, chairman of Element Power Solar. ?It confirms our company ability to focus on the quality of each individual project, rather than on the size of our portfolio: We are convinced that solar projects must be designed to maximize revenues and it is EPS?s ambition to change the way that solar developers are deploying new capacity.?
Element Power Solar has developed and put in operation already 77 MWp of solar plants, and has retained ownership of 22 MWp, while still continuing to manage through its sister division EPAM (Element Power Asset Management) most of the plants it has sold to third parties: the 84GWh produced during 2011 refer solely to the 44MWp of projects that have been developed and have had a full year of commercial operation under the management of EPAM.
The solar projects which entered in operation during 2011 have added further output and revenues: based on the excellent results of its older operating solar power plants, EPS estimates that in 2012 the operating projects it has developed and built will deliver to their shareholders in excess of 130GWh, worth over $ 80M/yr revenues from solar power.
Element Power Solar is currently developing further projects in Europe, in Latin and North America and in other emerging countries.
Element Power Solar is a unit of Element Power focusing on the global opportunities in PV solar. Element Power Solar has an extensive portfolio of solar projects with 77 MWp of solar projects developed, built and already put in operation and over 2,200 MW of projects in development in Europe, North America, Latin America, Africa and South East Asia. Element Power Solar is based in Portland Oregon, with offices in Madrid, London, Verona, Charlottesville, Concepci

MECASOLAR Supplies 100 kW in Solar Trackers to PV Solar Plant in Australia
Jan 26th
(PRWEB) January 18, 2012
MECASOLAR, a multinational company that designs, manufactures and supplies solar trackers, fixed structures and foundation screws, has delivered 100 kW in single-axis solar trackers to a new PV power plant in the town of Carnarvon that was developed by EMC Solar (Energy Made Clean).
The trackers supplied by MECASOLAR were installed in one of the biggest solar power stations in the area. The station is to start operating in January 2012 under a 30-year commercial agreement signed with Horizon Power.
MECASOLAR's cooperation in this project adds to other agreements reached before, which enabled the company to provide single- and dual-axis trackers to other Australian PV solar systems installed by ZEN, HARELEC and EMC Solar.
These sales, along with the strong bet by Australia's organisations and industry on renewable energy, have decided MECASOLAR, a company of OPDE Group, to study the possibility of opening a local branch in Australia, a target market for 2012 for the international corporation specialising in solar power products, alongside India or Mexico, Group management sources said.
So far, 12 Australian companies have joined PROINSO's International Network of Qualified Installers. They are companies with at least three years' experience in the solar industry and have teams of engineers and installers capable of designing and carrying out solar projects. Gemasolar – The World’s First Baseload (24/7) Solar Power Plant
Jan 22nd
This video by "Solar Trillions" author Tony Seba shows Gemasolar, the world's first commercial utility-scale solar power plant. Gemasolar is a 19.9-MW plant with a 15-hour 'battery'. Gemasolar's expected production is 110000 MWh per year—or about enough to fully power 25000 households. Gemasolar to produce electricity about 6400 hours per year - a capacity factor of 75%. Gemasolar's power tower has a height of 140 meters (459.3 feet.) The receiver on top of the tower is like a radiator that is heated to a temperature of about 565 degrees Celsius (1050 degrees Farenheit) by the sunlight reflected by 2650 heliostats with a total reflective surface of about 300000 square meters (3.32 million square feet.) www.tonyseba.com
